- Meet your guide for an enriching Homecoming day trip as you embark on an early morning journey from Accra to the coastal town of Cape Coast. Your first stop will be the Posuban Shrine in Mankessim, a site of great historical significance to the traditional people of Elmina.
- Next, you’ll continue to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Cape Coast Castle, one of the major slave castles from the Gold Coast era. Join a professional tour guide for an in-depth exploration of the castle's history, and consider participating in the optional "Door of Return Ceremony," symbolizing your reconnection to your African roots.
- Your tour will then take you to the bustling fishing village of Elmina, where you can watch local fishermen bringing in their daily catch. Here, you’ll also visit the historic Elmina Castle, the first European slave-trading post in sub-Saharan Africa (an additional fee applies for a guided tour of the castle). Yes we are going to be visiting these sites on this trip but we will only be touring the Cape Coast Castle as touring both castles on the same day tends to feel repetitive for most guests. You are allowed to pay extra to have a tour of the Elmina castle when we arrive to view the castle.
